Farewell 2014, Hello 2015! As parents, it’s undeniable that each year zooms by like a lightning at times, often taken us aback wondering “Where did the days go?”
For many, 2014 was a challenging year. As the saying goes, there will always be a rainbow after the rain.
Let’s be more awesome than last year! With resolutions or not, here are five simple ways to achieving your goals:
1. Take baby steps
Babies don’t learn to walk and communicate their needs overnight too. Accomplishments take time, determination and willingness. Instead of making huge, unrealistic resolutions, start by making small changes to your daily routine. Keep your faith intact and stay optimistic. And little by little – sikit-sikit lama-lama jadi bukit – they will sum up in new habits and lead to clearer, stronger way to attaining success.
2. Tackle one at a time
You might have more than one resolutions. Be realistic and do within your means. Set your priorities. For instance, work towards your goal of becoming fitter and healthier by increasing your exercise routine in the first three months of the year, eat clean in the next three months, more fruits and vegetables by September and so on. Add in some daily discipline, tell your loved ones and celebrate the accomplishments together.
3. Be persistent
Bit by bit, over and over again and that’s where the habit is formed and a lot of the difference is made. Motivate yourself everyday. Your little daily choices add up to the new you. Make them count and work in your favour.
4. Be patient
When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Excuses, reasons and distractions may come by but don’t let them overtake your determination. Be flexible and ready to give and take – after all, life is to be enjoyed! However, always draw your attention back to your main goal and be patient in seeing results. Remember, the most magnificent things in the world took time to happen – babies to be born, trees to grow – so keep persevering and have faith.
5. Source for motivation
Even the most diligent people run out of motivation at times. That’s totally normal. Search for daily motivations, quotes and groups of people with the same goals. Associate yourself with those who are positive and encouraging. Better still, make a goal board and paste it on a spot where it’s the first and last thing you see everyday.
