Who doesn’t appreciate fancy, themed parties – especially those that involved days of DIY hard work and fresh ideas? We are a big enthusiast!
This month, we feature another themed birthday bash, crafted and made possible by Mummy Megan for her daughter’s first birthday. Sit back and enjoy her creations:
“I wanted a theme that correlated with my daughter’s interest at this point of her life. We settled on ‘Strawberry’ as it was her favourite food since she started solids. To begin, I searched for ideas in Pinterest and decided on colours revolving red, pink, light blue and white with polka dots and rig rag details. I got a friend to design the party printables surrounding this concept.
To create the excitement, we placed a Welcome sign outside our door.
It was a small but intimate party with only four families invited. Most of the decorative items were sourced from knick-knack shops like Daiso or made from scratch.
The birthday princess wore a custom-made strawberry tutu outfit on her special day too!
For the dessert table, we had a watermelon cake, popcorn, macarons, cupcakes, strawberry-shaped cookies, fruit kebab, and strawberry lemonade in bottles.
For main course, we prepared simple, heartwarming homecooked dishes like spaghetti aglio olio, sausage in a blanket and salad.
For party favours, I got some cute strawberry hairclips for babies, strawberry cake mix complete with whisk and recipe for the older children, as well as strawberry jam for each family.
It took me more than a month to transform my plan into a reality. I had a whale of a time preparing for this party. The satisfaction derived from seeing everything coming together, celebrating Xan’s milestone in a special way and guests enjoying themselves was simply fulfilling.”
